At the beginning of October, the team of design engineer, mechanical engineer, automation engineer and project manager (with the support of colleagues from the project department and the entire company) began collecting ideas for the EMU1 concept.
After many brainstorming sessions, I froze the concept and moved on to 3D modeling and later to making execution drawings.
In mid-January we started assembling the chassis, a chassis composed of 3 parts (front, middle, rear).
The middle part of the chassis incorporates the batteries in order to obtain the center of gravity as centered as possible on the whole area of the vehicle.
After assembling the suspensions on the 2 axles, I mounted on the chassis the subassemblies obtained.
Achieving the leadership position was a real challenge.
The driver’s seat is made of round diam. 40, designed to protect both the driver and the passenger.
Also, for the protection of the occupants, seat belts with 3-point fastening were designed.
Because the suspensions are on leaf springs, we used suspension seats to increase comfort.
The spring support capacity is 3000 kg.
The bucket can incorporate a mass of 1000 kg.
The dimensions of the dump truck are: L = 2 m, l-1.3 m, h = 0.3 m, with the possibility of adding lifting shutters of another 0.4 m.
The side shutters are removable andiiiii … can be used as a ramp to easily climb objects into the dumpster. (weight supported is 70 kg / shutter).
To facilitate the folding of the dump truck, a hydraulic cylinder with manual pump has been designed (on request, there is the option of mounting an electric pump).
The total dimensions of the vehicle are L = 3.5m, l = 1.35m, the ground clearance is 20cm.
The charging time of lead-acid batteries is 6-8 hours.
The estimated range is about 100 km.
Top speed 40km / h.
Completion of this prototype is scheduled for the end of March.
